don't ever worry about
not being enough
for someone who decided
that nobody will ever
be enough for them

there are some people
who have an insatiable
appetite for taking

they are living with a
starving tapeworm of ego

~ it's okay to quit feeding your light
into the mouth of a black hole

they will always want more

my love,

you can't water a rock
and expect it to grow

you can't ask a brick wall
to become an open door

you can't train a wolf
to work as a shepherd

you can't let the desert
come drink your ocean

~ it's okay to quit feeding your light
into the mouth of a black hole

they will always want more

protect yourself
from those who
are addicted to the
taste of your sweetness

  -by deciding that you
aren't here to be their
cookie jar

guard your soul from
someone who wants to
get cavities from it

~ it's okay to quit feeding your light
into the mouth of a black hole

they will just want

you are a miracle
   that the phrase "thank you"
was invented for

you are the sunflower field
    that refuses to grow
where it isn't appreciated

you are a breathtaking work of art
that shouldn’t be hung up in
the basement of a narcissist

~ it's okay to quit feeding your light
into the mouth of a black hole

they will just want

my love,

the vampire
won't stop
showing up
to drink you up

until you stop
inviting them in

boundaries can
be garlic

standing up for yourself
is holy water

you are worth it

~ it's okay to quit feeding your light
into the mouth of a black hole

they will just want

always more more more

and you have too much
left to do here on earth
to be a home to a
sponge who absorbs

and never pours
