I’ve seen a lot of beauty in my life. The kind people cross oceans for ~~ hidden waterfalls, skies lit up like Wonka sugar, mountaintops that make even the skeptics pause. But none of it ~~ not a single lavender field or a fantastical glimmering cave ~~ comes close to the beauty I see in someone who just keeps going.
This piece is a love letter to the quiet miracle of your staying power. Your smile-through-tears kind of strength. Your get-back-up-again kind of glory.
they can have their cotton candy sunsets on a beach in the gulf and they can have their perfectly sculpted snowcapped rocky mountains and they can have their rolling fields of Lavenders in France and they can have their serene moments at a mirror lake where they can see the reflection of God watching them from above in the clear water and they can have their luminescent caves of magical glowworms in New Zealand that make any visitor feel like they are walking around Van Gogh's Starry Night and they can have their favorite tree in their park where the sunlight peaks through the gaps in the leaves to kiss their face like the gentlest of lovers they can have all of that but for me there is nothing more beautiful than watching you keep radiating in the midst of all the dark shadows that circle you and how you keep looking for miracles everywhere you go despite how many times this world has shattered your heart the loveliest thing I will ever behold is how you refuse to quit oh my love, the way you keep moving forward no matter the fierce winds that oppose you or the bastards you dismiss you or the blades that wound you or the ways I have let you down is the most beautiful natural wonder I will ever seen they can have their hidden waterfalls that look like they are flowing down straight from the mystical sea that separates us from heaven when I want to be reminded about how remarkably resplendent this world of ours is I just watch you smile through your tears and how you keep getting up no matter how violently you get knocked down there is nothing more elegant than your perseverance
Interested in using your pen as a compass? Want to find a way past that overprotective gatekeeper in your head? Feel like there’s a story trying to get out, but you don’t know where to begin?
Beautiful. You’re not alone.
Come find me at one of my upcoming events.
I’ll be gathering with other brave, brilliant souls in some of the most breathtaking corners of the world~~from a working horse ranch in Arizona, to the rugged coastline of California, to an island tucked away in Alaska.
These aren’t your typical writing retreats. I’m not here to critique your grammar or mold you into anything polished. I’m here to help you rediscover your voice~~the one that keeps getting back up. The one that shines through the shadows. The one that, in my opinion, is more breathtaking than any lavender field in France.
These spaces are open to writers and non-writers. If you have a heart and a story, you belong.
