I didn’t set out to write poetry. I stumbled into like Jed Clampet did that “Texas Tea” in the antique TV show “The Beverly Hillibillies.”
When poems started pouring out of my fingers and onto the page I had zero relationship with the craft. I didn’t read poetry and I had no clue which poets I should be following.
So - I ventured into all of this without any map to help me on my journey into this craft. I couldn’t quite find any other voices that sounded like mine. I felt so very alone at first.
Along the way, I have bumped into two ancient poets who speak to me so clearly and have become my spiritual mentors - likely much to their surprise.
