tick tick clock clock
we are all having a different experience here - yet, we are all facing same time crunch
A quick poem for you on this last weekday of June. I hope you are doing okay and you are able to find some beats of rest in your busy life. This year is passing by so quickly - this decade is passing by so quickly - this life is passing by so quickly.
We are having such different experiences here on Earth. Some of us struggle just to get out of bed in the morning - some of us are able to leap over tall mountains in a single jump - some of us can see the beauty in every flower - some of us can’t get over the hump.
But we are all staring at the same clock. And it’s ticking faster than ever. Let’s spend what time we have left planting gardens and not digging war trenches.
Here is a little poem for both of our hearts. Please be kind to yourself today.
Love, John “clock watcher” Roedel
tick tick clock clock Some angels dress like sugar sweet devils, and some saints hide their bitter horns. Some kisses feel like tired Styrofoam, and some create wild butterfly swarms. Some dark nights last for an entire year, and some dawns come way too quick. Some of you pass through my heart like water, and some of you land on it and stick. Some words are easy to say out loud to you, and some can't get past my pride. Some of my knots to the past remain really tight, and some of them are fully untied. Some of me is a floating cosmic wanderer, some of me is a deeply planted elm tree. Some of my soul is searching for God "out there", some of my soul is looking inside of me. Some of this life is about being willing to scream "hello!" some of this life is softly weeping "goodbye." Some of our romances get frozen by an unannounced winter, some of our romances become an endless July. Some of us will win prizes and awards, some of us won't even join the race. Some of us will rev our motors as we speed, some of us will keep a very slow pace. Some of us are here to count up every dollar, some of us are here to count honeybees. Some of us will own the deed to an empire, some of us will never possess any keys. Some of us will try to live as close to forever as possible, some of us will travel on without a fight. All of us came here riding on the back of a sunbeam, all of us will someday return to the light. So, while we are here, let's love each other and be willing to pardon our crimes. We all are walking so many different roads, but all of us are running out of time.
DEAR SONGBIRDS, FIND YOUR SONG WITH ME THIS SUMMER
Come sing your wild song with me at The Art of Living Center this August!
Save the date! I’m so excited to announce that I will be bringing my writing retreat back to the Art of Living Retreat Center in beautiful Boone, NC in August of 2024.
This will be my third time facilitating my retreat at the iconic AOLRC and each time has been a transformative event in my life.
The HeartWrite retreat is an opportunity to embrace the wildness of your narrative, to celebrate imperfections, and to write with unguarded honesty.
As a Poet, writer, and comedian I will guides you through this transformative experience with my signature blend of humor, heartfelt insights, and engaging activities that are meant to help you explore the story inside of you.
My approach to writing is not about crafting a perfect narrative but offering a mirror to the soul, allowing others to see their reflections within your words. Through the art forms of writing and storyteller, this experience peels away the layers of pretense to reveal the raw, untold stories that reside within us all.
HeartWrite is more than just a writing retreat; it’s a journey of discovery and authenticity. Whether you’re a seasoned writer of any kind, a storyteller at heart, or simply someone longing to connect more deeply with your own story, this retreat offers a unique opportunity to write without fear of judgment.
